Right, you lot, Eddie here, back from another couple of jaunts into the frozen wastelands of… Wisconsin. Let me tell you, even a skeletal titan like myself feels the chill when the wind howls off those lakes. But the heat of a proper Iron Maiden tribute show? That’ll thaw any frostbite, believe me.
We kicked off the new year at Paulie’s Pub and Eatery in West Allis, and let me tell you, it was a right proper shindig! Aces High – A Tribute to Iron Maiden; those magnificent blighters who keep the Maiden flame burning bright – tore the place apart. Shame the usual shutterbug was down with some sort of plague (hopefully not one of my own making!), so we’re a bit light on the visual evidence. But fear not! Longtime Aces High fanatic, Donavan Zuelsdorf, bless his soul, managed to snap a few shots to give you a taste of the mayhem. (See below, if you can make them out through the haze of headbanging!)
The energy was electric, the crowd was roaring, and Aces High? Well, they were tighter than a mummy’s bandages. From “Run to the Hills” to “The Trooper,” they nailed every riff, every scream, every thunderous drum beat. I even got to stretch my legs and roam amongst the faithful, much to their delight (or terror, depending on how much ale they’d consumed).

Then, we ventured north to Manitowoc, a place where the winter blues apparently surrender to the power of Maiden. Petskull Brewing was the battleground, and let me tell you, it shook! Paul, the owner, is a proper metalhead, and he made sure I was right at home. The crowd was a swirling vortex of leather, denim, and pure, unadulterated Maiden love.
Aces High, as always, delivered the goods. The beer flowed, the music thundered, and even the most frozen of souls were warmed by the sheer force of the performance. I even managed to sneak a sip of some of that local brew… not bad, not bad at all.
I must say, these Wisconsin fans know how to keep the spirit alive. It’s always an honor to join Aces High on their adventures. Massive thanks to Paul at Petskull, all the fans who came out, and everyone who made these shows so memorable.
